A safe and comfortable place where an individual can go to receive counseling, assessments, group treatments and the specific care they may need. Addiction & Mental Health Services provide high quality care for those in need of their services. They are able to give advice towards the prevention and reduction of self harm, involving tobacco, alcohol, other drugs, and any type substances or acts that can endanger your well being.
The Chester Career Resource Centre continues to be dedicated to the community by providing the resources, knowledge, and assistance to find and maintain employment, start a business or find a new career direction.

ESS has been one of the most resourceful links to us in creating this site for you. They offer services in Resume Building, Interview Skills, Job Search Tool Kit, and many more workshops to set you in the right direction to obtaining employment. Those workshops are free of charge. Computer use for job search and resume writing is also a free service, that anyone can take advantage of. They offer specialized services to peoples with disability, ranging from physical, to someone who has anxiety or dyslexia. HeartWood engages youth for positive community change. HeartWood supports youth to develop their skills and confidence as community leaders, by offering leadership training and skill building programs to youth and young adults. HeartWood also trains and coaches adults to engage youth by offering professional development workshops and services to adults.
HeartWood has been consulting with the Lunenburg District Office of Community Services for the past 6 years, as they embrace youth engagement to improve their services.
Volunteering is a effective way to gain experience in your field of interest and to learn more about yourself and your passions. It builds and strengthens your networks and potential references and also makes it much easier to find jobs. For those who do not have previous paid work experience, it is a great way to improve your resume and highlight transferable skills. The Lunenburg Queens Volunteer Partnership is a great resource to help you get involved with volunteer opportunities in the community. Service Canada is great resource and has many things to offer, like getting your SIN number, applying for EI, birth certificate, and immigration. The Sexual Health Centre for Lunenburg County is a pro-choice, youth positive organization that is respectful of age, gender, sexual orientation and diversity. The centre is open Wednesday – Friday 9am until 6:30 pm.
You can email them or submit a question through their website "Ask Us" section. The province also maintains a 24-hour hotline for non-emergency health related questions, just dial 211. The centre also has a Facebook and Twitter page that you can receive information and updates on.
School Outreach: If you are a student who needs a pregnancy test, counselling, or other information, they can go to your school if you are unable to come to our office. Arrangements must be made through your school Guidance Counsellor or other school authority.

South Shore Opportunities is a non-profit organization that assists people in Queens County looking for employment. They offer career building workshops, help writing resumés and cover letters, client assessments that could involve creating an action plan with possible school funding, help starting a business and other job related tasks. They work with Employment Solutions, Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre, Department of Community Service, Department of Justice and other organizations related to employment. To get involved with SSO you must be over the age of 15.
SSWAP builds employability skills and addresses barriers to employment. They provide transportation, individual employment counseling services and help to direct you to the support you need. They provide hands on training in:

This 14-week program is free of charge and introduces women into the world of trades and technology. During the 14 weeks, women have the opportunity to explore the different trades, travel to different NSCC campuses, and get hands-on experience along the way. Women Unlimited assists with your work attire, can aid in child-care, and travel. At the end of this amazing program, if you have a decision to continue your education in a trade, Women Unlimited can help you apply to your preferred course enrolment. It is a great program and an excellent opportunity.
